We are so excited to have you here for our Mums and Bubs Program!

You should be so proud for making this investment in yourself and taking the time to focus on your health postnatally. Your body has gone through some BIG changes over the last 9 months and will continue to do so for a while longer. This is where professionals come into play and can help assist and educate you through these transitions. 

Our Mums and Bubs: First Steps Program came to fruition as women came in expressing how lost they felt when leaving the hospital, they were unsure on what the next steps were for themselves. They were educated on baby and how to care for them as newborns but not on how to take care of themselves and how they should be feeling physically and mentally or what to look out for and for how long.

The program was initially designed by Miche Hansen, our Principal Physiotherapist, after the birth of her two children and noticing the lack of services to help new mums understand the changes in their bodies and to help get them back to the things they were doing before bub. Over time, and with the input of our other physiotherapists, the program has evolved into what we have today, a 10-week program, full of exercises, education, and support for mummas all around Australia! 
 
We started our in-person classes in 2020 and have now helped over 200 women in their postnatal journey! This includes a handful of women who streamed in online to the class, as they lived away from Rockhampton, this allowed them to receive the care and connection they needed each week. Thinking more into this we realised there would be many more women that would benefit from this type of program but are unable to attend in person. So, we created our online program for YOU to be able to enjoy the benefits of our tailored program! 

At Vector Health we always want to provide exceptional care wherever we can. This is why our program stands out and differs from others as you have access real time to the professionals that curated this program. You receive your initial with the same person you will continue to check in with over the 10 weeks with any queries you might have. 

How the program works

Initial Assessment

Initial with one of our Physiotherapists. This will be either in person if you are able to attend or online as most of the initials will be for this program.  
 
In your initial assessment, we want to learn a little bit about you and your journey into motherhood so far. We cover your pregnancy history, labour history and post-natal recovery, just as a precaution before entering the class. Everyone’s journey is different, and the more we know the better we can help you.
 In this session, we also provide tailored advice and education for the individual depending on what their needs are at the time, which may include some mobility or strengthening exercise prescription. We do a rectus diastasis check and provide some information around tummy separation, as well as teach you how to comfortably and correctly commence some pelvic floor exercises.
 
During the initial you will book in fortnightly check ins with your Physio on a day and time that works best for you and access will open for you in the online portal.

Just the same as week one only this week click on week two. Afterwards please fill in the survey again. Don’t forget this week will be your 1-1 catch up with your physio.

Click on week one and follow along as Courtney and Anna guide you through the exercises. Once you have completed the class, we would like you to fill out the short survey to let us know how you felt or if there were any problems. The survey results are sent directly to us so if there are any problems, we will contact you as soon as possible to help/ guide you.

Week 3 – 10

The structure of the first two weeks will be what you follow for your next 8 weeks and 4 check ins. 
 

Super simple but we want to be able to be there to support you along the whole journey. We will send other emails throughout the weeks to check in and make sure you are travelling fine, but don’t forget we are just a call away!
 
You also have access to a folder of educational content for the duration of the 10-week program. Make sure you watch all our wonderful, knowledgeable speakers talk on lots of different topics about your health and bubs health. The more we know the more power we have to make the right choices for ourselves and our children.

We wanted to make this program as accessible for everyone as possible, so we have created the program using very minimal equipment. So, if you can try to find these items around the house.

Equipment you will need:

Resistance bands

These will be supplied by Vector Health. If you are coming into the clinic for your initial, we will give you the bands at your appointment. If you are all online, we will post them to you immediately to try to avoid any delay for you.  

Towel and/or Pilates ball 

You will need a towel to be used rolled and squeezed between knees and also to add padding to some movements. If you have a Pilates/ medium sized ball you can use this instead of the towel to squeeze. 

A weight around 2kg to 5kg

This could be a full water bottle, your baby depending on the exercise, or whatever you can find around the house.
